Rushymia to Be Re-established as Crown Dependency

An Act of Parliament was passed earlier today authorising land to be claimed on which to restore the former kingdom of Rushymia.

Rushymia was an entity existing under British sovereignty between 1995 and 2000 in the primary school attended by the now Emperor Jonathan I and Crown Princess Caroline.

The last of the kings to have ruled Rushymia abdicated without a successor. He left the right to his title to whoever could first retrieve a plastic bottle he placed high up a fence, a feat only achieved by Emperor Esmond III in October 2010.

The title King of Rushymia has been held ever since by the Austenasian Monarch, but in an entirely ceremonial capacity.

This Act of Parliament has authorised Rushymia to be re-established as a territorial entity, this time under Austenasian sovereignty.

No options have yet been announced as to possible locations for the Crown Dependency-to-be.

What is the Monarchy? The Austenasian Monarchy is the constitutional institution headed by the Emperor of Austenasia, who serves as Head of State. The Crown represents the continuity and constitutional authority of Austenasia and has formed part of the Empire’s constitutional structure since its foundation in 2008. Under the Constitution of 2026, Parliament and the House of Representatives ceased to form the legislative structure, with legislative functions instead exercised by the present Senate.
Who is Esmond III Augustus? Esmond III Augustus was the second Emperor of Austenasia, reigning from February 2010 until September 2011. He succeeded Terry I Augustus following Terry’s abdication and Jonathan Austen’s decision not to succeed to the throne at that time. His reign encompassed an important period in Austenasia’s early constitutional and territorial development, including the Austenasian Civil War. He was succeeded in September 2011 by Declan I Augustus.
Who is Jonathan Austen? Jonathan Austen, formerly Emperor Jonathan I Augustus, is the founder and fourth Emperor of Austenasia. He co-founded Austenasia with his family in 2008 and served for many years as Prime Minister before ascending to the throne in 2013. During his reign, Jonathan oversaw a substantial period of Austenasian expansion and development and played a major role in establishing its institutions and foreign relations. He abdicated on 29 September 2024 after more than eleven years as Emperor. Following a period of continued public service after his abdication, Jonathan resigned from his remaining government duties in 2025.
