Earlier this evening the Prime Minister made the following announcement regarding the Recess of the Austenasian Government:

“The Austenasian Government will be entering a period of recess for the duration of the month of April in observance of the Easter season. During this time, no parliamentary sessions or official governmental business will take place unless an urgent matter requires attention.

Normal operations are expected to resume at the beginning of May.

We wish all subjects and friends of the Empire a peaceful and joyful Easter.

Parliament was closed for Easter earlier this morning.

Treaty Signed with the Grand Duchy of Misberia

On 22 March a treaty of Friendship and Mutual Recognition was signed between Austenasia and Misberia.

The Treaty was drafted by Acting Chief Ambassador Griffin and signed by Prime Minister Andrew and Grand Duke Otto Green of Misberia.

Austenasia looks forward to a long and happy friendship with Misberia.

What is the office of the Prime Minister? The Prime Minister of Austenasia is the Head of Government and leads the day-to-day administration of the Empire. The Prime Minister leads the Government and Cabinet and oversees the development and implementation of government policy and the work of the administration. The office is distinct from that of the Emperor, who serves as Head of State. The constitutional powers and arrangements of the premiership have changed during Austenasia’s history.
What was Parliament? Parliament was the legislative branch of Austenasia under the previous constitutional system. It was a unicameral legislature whose representative house was the House of Representatives. Under the Constitution of 2026, Parliament and the House of Representatives ceased to form the legislative structure, with legislative functions instead exercised by the present Senate.
Who is Andrew Musgrave? Lord Andrew Musgrave is the Prime Minister of Austenasia and one of its longest-serving officials. He joined Austenasia in 2013 and has served as Governor of Corinium Terentium since December of that year. After holding several government positions, he became Deputy Prime Minister in February 2024 and was elected Prime Minister in September 2024. During the constitutional crisis and interregnum of 2025–26, Musgrave also served as Lord Protector and Regent to the Crown. He relinquished those powers upon the accession of Johannes Karl I Augustus in July 2026 and continues to serve as Prime Minister.
