Doctor Who star Colin Baker, best known for portraying the Sixth Doctor, and has continued the role in acclaimed audio dramas for decades, will narrate The Accession of Johannes Karl I Augustus, the Austenasian Times can officially confirm.

The documentary-style short film chronicles the coronation of His Imperial Majesty Johannes Karl I Augustus, which took place in York on 25 July 2026, and explores the ceremony, its symbolism, and the constitutional changes accompanying the accession of Austenasia’s new Emperor.

Colin Baker’s narration guides viewers through the events of the day, providing historical context and helping bring the events of the coronation to life.

Reflecting on his involvement in the coronation film, Baker emphasised the importance of the story behind the production:

“It’s always about storytelling in any project one works on, and this was a good story to tell!”

Indeed, Austenasia’s almost 20-year history is a rich one, with the past year alone proving a story of twists and turns, from the dethronement of Aggelos I and the Commonwealth period to the eventual restoration of the Monarchy — truly a story worth telling.

Emperor Johannes Karl I Augustus also expressed his delight at Baker’s involvement in the production:

“As a long-time Doctor Who fan, I can’t express how delighted I was that Colin Baker agreed to record the narration for the coronation film,” the Emperor said. “I think he carries it off with quintessential Austenasian flair. As for whether the Sixth is the best, I’ll let the Whovians decide — but I’m sure at least this sixth will indeed be the best.”

Baker famously portrayed the Sixth Doctor in Doctor Who from 1984 to 1986. Johannes Karl I Augustus, who acceded to the throne last month, is likewise the sixth person to hold the Austenasian imperial office.

The production was filmed on location in York and features members of the Austenasian Government and Royal Family participating in the coronation ceremony. The documentary forms part of Austenasia’s continuing efforts to document its modern history through professionally produced media.

Colin Baker is represented by Bowington Management.
